Welcome
to the July issue of the Pedagogue Solutions Newsletter,
our online general interest newsletter for the
assessment community. The Newsletter highlights
industry news, provides assessment-related tips
and techniques, and updates our clients on our
latest products and services.
In Part
1 of this article I reviewed some results obtained
from an audience response system during a recent talk
I gave with Greg Sapnar of Bristol-Myers Squibb. In
this continuation I will look more closely at the need
for and the elements of an assessment strategy.
First: Do you need an assessment strategy?
From a corporate perspective, informal testing (i.e.
quizzes, diagnostic tests, some formative evaluations)
can be done outside the context of a broader assessment
strategy. Of course, from a psychometric perspective
the results may be all but meaningless if the tests
are not created in a valid manner (garbage in, garbage
out), but if the tests are without consequence it is
not required that you have an assessment strategy in
place. However, if you are doing testing with consequences
(i.e. high stakes testing) – and that is increasingly
the case in most corporations – it is important
to have a documented process in place.
Did you know that our clients
are eligible for a complimentary "Best Practices
in Test Validation" lecture?
It's true! When you sign up for our assessment
services you are automatically eligible for our "Best
Practices in Test Validation" One-and-a-half Hour
Presentation or Webinar, which covers basic testing
theory and practice. Many of our clients are already
experiencing the benefits of our Best Practices lecture.
If you are not currently a client you
can still take advantage of our assessment validation
services or our "Best Practices" workshop
and lecture.
If you are interested in hosting a Best Practices presentation,
webinar or workshop, please contact Steven
Just for more information.
